Job Description & Qualifications

Job Summary

Assists in the analysis of technical change and release data. Confirms the documentation, approval, and timing of technical releases into quality assurance and production environments.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

  • Assists the release management team in protecting and managing the movement of IT releases through build, test, and production environments. Communicates and documents releases to the release management team.

  • Interfaces and communicates with test, development, IT operations, architecture, infrastructure, and project management teams.

  • Maintains the enterprise-wide release calendar. Supports the cross-functional coordination of release management activities and adheres to release management processes.

  • Implements release management strategies across IT departments. Provides risks to release management teams. Supports and leverages the release management solution suite of tools.

  • Supports release management teams by ensuring release data and changes are interpreted and documented. Keeps release documentation up to audit standards and provides updates to management regarding release scheduling conflicts.

  • Adheres to release management practices by participating in formal and informal training sessions. Gathers and report team feedback and metrics to the release management team.

Nature and Scope

  • Demonstrates skill in data analysis techniques by resolving missing/incomplete information and inconsistencies/anomalies in more complex research/data.

  • Nature of work requires increasing independence; receives guidance only on unusual, complex problems or issues. Work review typically involves periodic review of output by a supervisor and/or direct customers of the process.

  • May provide general guidance/direction to or train junior level support or professional personnel.

Work Environment

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

  • Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 2-5 years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 2-4 years of experience in a related field. Certification is required in some areas.

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, computer science, management information systems, or a related field.

  • 3+ years of experience in technical change and release management with exposure to software development methodologies.

  • 1+ years of experience working on projects requiring the integration of cross-functional technology and business solutions.
