Job Summary

Top level technical expert who partners with business analysts and engineers in requirements gathering and reviews. Responsible for analyzing and translating business information and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

• Defines, designs, and oversees the systems and applications architecture for both current and future business applications.

• Evaluates new and emerging technologies and developmental methodologies to find faster, cost effective, and more reliable solutions for existing and proposed systems.

• Partners with infrastructure, application, and quality teams to ensure that applications meet business requirements, are well documented, and have processes in place for ongoing support and maintenance.

• Scopes and implements appropriate process improvement tools and techniques such as Six Sigma, Lean Sigma, and ITIL.

• Drives standard and efficient applications and infrastructure design by aligning the infrastructure roadmap with the application technology strategy, hardware vendor roadmaps, and service capabilities.

• Identifies emerging technologies that could have a positive impact on the organization; helps evaluate strategic fit.

• Consults with application or infrastructure development projects to fit systems or infrastructure to architecture. Identifies when it is necessary to modify the solution architecture to accommodate project needs.

• Contributes to technology strategy through consulting support: driving requirements gathering, collection of existing deployment plans, synthesis of business goals, and operating strategies.

Nature and Scope

• Solutions require analysis and investigation.

• Achieves planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, business principles, and practical experience. May recommend/make decisions regarding new programs/initiatives that have significant impact to the business and carry consequences in unsuccessful endeavors.

• Manages a larger team or multiple small teams through direction of subordinate management and/or supervisory staff.

Work Environment

• Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

• Most of the time is spent sitting or standing in the same location and/or there may be a need to stoop regularly or move/lift light material or equipment (typically less than 8 pounds).

• Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

• Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 7+ years of experience in a related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications & Job Specific Details

The Lead Solutions Architect will be leading the driving of architectural insight, planning, and solutions for our supply chain transformation. This person will lead some key initiatives like advanced forecasting and inventory, same-day delivery network, warehouse automation, and transportation visibility. You will need the following to be successful in this position:

• Experience partnering with key business leaders to understand their goals, software partners to shape requirements, and engineering teams to support delivery of capabilities aligned to our holistic supply chain solution plan.

• Will own and drive clarity into architectural vision by producing integrated solution roadmaps, leading critical designs for new capabilities, and acting as a point of governance on architectural decisions. Partner and serve as part of a broader architecture team and incorporate patterns, requirements, and standards into their domain.

• Current on emerging trends in technology, patterns, and solutions for supply chain. Experience modeling and assessing the current architecture to make recommendations on roadmap to future transformation.

• Establish a governance process around architecture decisions. Finds ways to embed processes, patterns, tooling and automation to improve architectural maturity.

• Experience leading technical teams in best practices and technical design.

• Technical Skills:

• Warehouse Management: SAP EWM

• Forecasting & Planning: Blue Yonder Demand Planning

• Transportation Management: Blue Yonder or other TMS, Descartes or Roadnet route planning.
